March 25, 2025 Board Meeting Minutes

Present at the meeting were Gary Johanik, Bob Sukala, Dave Appelgren, Pam Brown and Suzi Misun. Also present were Bob Pagac, Dave Mihalek, Leon Gilbert, Joe Johanik, Amanda Tutor, Mary McPhetridge and JoAnn Erickson.

1)         Call to Order:  Chairman Gary Johanik called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m.

2)         Verify Open Meeting Notice given:  Chairman Johanik verified that the Open Meeting Notice had been given.

3)         Approval of February 25, 2025 Meeting Minutes:  Motion was made by Bob and seconded by Dave to approve the minutes of the February 25, 2025 Board meeting.  Motion carried.

4)         Public Comment:  There were no public comments.

5)         Treasurer’s Report: The Treasurer’s report was presented.  The cash balance as of 2/28/2025 was $116,963.66 (which includes two Savings accounts and 1 CD). The balance as of 3/24/2025 was

$62,157.53 (this amount is the Money Market Savings and Checking Account balances). The loan balances are Grader-$24,302.65 and Mower-$16,678.02.  Motion was made by Bob and seconded by Dave to approve the Treasurer’s Report as presented. Motion carried.  Pam noted that there 2 outstanding bills-Daryl Carlson and USDA Forest Service.

6)         Mary McPhetridge – Ashland Chamber of Commerce:  Mary McPhetridge was present at the meeting to discuss the 2025 Whistlestop being held on Saturday October 11th.  A discussion followed with the board.  Mary will look into having additional Deputies along CTH G during the race.  A discussion and possible action regarding the 2026 race will be put on the April agenda.

7)         Amanda Tutor – Ashland School District Referendum:  Amanda Tutor was present at the meeting to explain the Ashland School District Referendum which will be on the April 1, 2025 Spring Election Ballot.  A discussion followed.

8)         Resolution 2025-1 Appointing Town Clerk:  Motion was made by Dave and seconded by Bob to approve Resolution 2025-1, appointing Suzi Misun as Town Clerk for a one-year term and to increase the annual salary by $1,125.00.  Motion carried.

9)         Discuss/approval 2025 Gravel Bid Notice:  Motion was made by Gary and seconded by Dave to advertise the gravel bid as approximately 1,000 yards of ¾ minus dense base 100% fractured quarry gravel, bid in yards with printed load tickets, which include weights for each load, to be spread by June 30, 2024—bid amount should also be extended to any town resident and adding that the town reserves the right to refuse any and all bids.  The bids will be opened at the May 2025 board meeting.  Motion carried.

10)       Discuss development of a Town Website:  The board will actively start looking into a establishing a town website.

11)       Discuss Town road weight limit postings:  The board instructed Bob Pagac to continue with postings as is.

12)       Set date for Road Inspection – April or May:  The board will be conducting the annual road inspection on Saturday, April 12, 2025 starting at 8:00 a.m.

13)       Report from Road Boss:  Bob Pagac and Dave Mihalek gave a brief an update on the projects they have been working on.

14)       Review and payment of bills:  The clerk announced checks #8635-#8654 and 3 ACHs for a total of $20,998.08.  Motion was made by Bob and seconded by Dave to approve and pay bills for checks

15)       Announce Annual Meeting date:  The Annual Meeting will be held on Tuesday April 15, 2025 at 7:00 p.m.

16)       Set date for next meeting:  The next meeting was tentatively set for 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday April 23, 2025.

17)       Adjournment:  There being no further business, motion was made by Bob and seconded by Dave to adjourn.  Motion carried.  The meeting ended at 9:05 p.m.
